Trump throws a childish tantrum over Mark Carney's Davos speech and boots Canada from his pay-to-play "Board of Peace." It's incredibly sad when you realize that your country - and its foreign relations - are governed by a president whose emotional maturity is at a level even below that of your average pre-teen. It's hard to reach any other conclusion when the king of petulance, Donald Trump, just did what he does best: get criticized, get embarrassed, and then respond in the most childish and immature way possible. On Thursday, Donald Trump abruptly rescinded Canada's invitation to join his so-called "Board of Peace" - a vanity project he's been trying to puff up into a Trump-branded alternative to the United Nations. The reason? Canada's prime minister refused to bow. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Mark Carney delivered a blistering, grown-up speech warning smaller nations about authoritarianism, exclusion, and the dangers of Trump's America First wrecking ball aimed at the post-World War II global order. He didn't even say Trump's name - which somehow made it sting more. Within days, Trump yanked his invite to our northern neighbor. In a social-media post dressed up like a faux-formal letter, Trump sniffed that the Board of Peace was withdrawing Canada's invitation to what he called "the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled." In other words: You didn't clap, so you're out. The irony is thick enough to choke on. Carney had already started backing away after it emerged that Trump wanted countries to pay more than $1 billion for a permanent seat - essentially turning global diplomacy into a grifting Mar-a-Lago timeshare. France's Emmanuel Macron reportedly passed. Canada hesitated. Trump lashed out. This isn't diplomacy - it's middle-school power politics with nuclear codes. It's difficult to see why any nation would want to join Trump's faux Board of Peace when it duplicates the purpose of the already existing United Nations, aggregates billions of dollars for a shadowy fund directly controlled by Trump, and gives the belligerent American "leader" unilateral control over the unholy alliance: veto power, agenda control, the ability to invite or eject members on a whim, and even dissolve the whole thing if he feels like it. Dissent isn't tolerated. Criticism gets punished. Pay up, praise the boss, or get bounced. And the damage goes well beyond hurt feelings. U.S.–Canada relations are spiraling. Canadians are boycotting American travel and goods. Trade talks over the USMCA are in jeopardy. Trump has floated annexation fantasies, tariff threats, and now diplomatic snubs - all while insisting Canada should be "grateful" because it "lives" thanks to the U.S. Carney's response? Calm, clear, and devastating: "Canada doesn't live because of the United States," he said. "Canada thrives because we are Canadian." Trump's reaction proves the point. This wasn't about peace. It was about obedience. And when Canada chose dignity instead, Trump chose revenge. Perhaps Trump should learn a lesson that most petulant children learn in middle school: if you're not one of the cool kids, you can't just become one by starting your own club without changing your behavior. Otherwise, you're still just an ignorant nerd flailing for attention and proving just how uncool you really are. Please like and share if you admire Mark Carney for standing up to Trump, even if it means Canada doesn't get to sit at Trump's kiddie table!
