Republican Senator John Curtis rips into Kristi Noem for her despicable comments about murder victim Alex Pretti and says that she "weakened confidence" in our government — before calling for "real oversight."

The DHS spending bill might hit a brick wall in the Senate...

"You've trusted me, and maintaining that trust matters. I've worked hard to be your eyes, ears, and voice," Curtis wrote on X.

"We must have a transparent, independent investigation into the Minnesota shooting, and those responsible—no matter their title—must be held accountable. Officials who rush to judgment before all the facts are known undermine public trust and the law-enforcement mission," he continued.

"I disagree with Secretary Noem's premature DHS response, which came before all the facts were known and weakened confidence. I will be working with a bipartisan group of senators to demand real oversight and transparency, including supporting calls from
@RandPaul for leaders of these operations to testify, so trust can be restored and justice served," he concluded.

It's unclear what beyond testiomony that "real oversight and transparency" might entail, but anything is better than the intentional coverup being carried out by the Trump administration. Noem falsely accused Pretti — an upstanding nurse with no criminal record — of plotting a "massacre" of law enforcement and engaging in "domestic terrorism." Stephen Miller echoed those sentiments.

Then, rather than launching a robust investigation into the murder of an American citizen at the hands of masked federal agents, soon-to-be-ex-Border Chief Greg Bovino revealed that the agents involved had been moved out of Minneaplois or shifted to administrative duties. He has refused to reveal their identities. If the House and Senate fail to take action, the White House will impede justice in this case. We cannot allow that to happen.
