Congressman Gregory Meeks unleashes righteous fury on Trump's lapdog Treasury Secretary and thunders: "Stop covering for the president! Stop being a flunky!" This hearing went off the rails fast for MAGA... “Now Mr. Secretary, I’m sure you can agree that conflicts of interest and improper influence by U.S. elected officials over bank regulators weaken supervisory independence and ultimately impose massive losses on consumers and taxpayers, I think we can all agree to that,” Meeks said to Secretary Scott Bessent. The congressman proceeded to zero in on the Trump family's stunning corruption. They allowed a "foreign asset firm" with ties to the United Arab Emirates to "quietly" buy up half of their crypto company World Liberty Financial. At the "very same time" Trump in his role as president was "dealing with that country on foreign policy." One struggles to imagine a more blatant conflict of interest. Meeks asked Bessent if he would "pause and heighten the scrutiny of any bank charter or licensing application at the OCC connected to the World Liberty Financial" until all of the blatant "conflicts of interest and foreign influence reviews are completed and shared with the United States Congress." "All you need to know is will you halt it and do a complete investigation and scrutiny of this licensing application? All you have to ask is yes or no," said Meeks. "No, Congressman the OCC is an independent entity," replied Bessent, before desperately trying to divert the conversation with an unrelated rambling tangent about Venezuela. "I take that as a no," said Meeks. "You do not want to answer that question. I take that as a no. I'm asking you to do your responsibility as Secretary of the Treasury!" The Republican chairman then interjected to claim that Meeks' time had expired. The congressman remained undeterred. "He's the one that went past your time, Mr. Chairman," shot back Meeks. "He did not answer my question and he wouldn't pass the time." It was then that Meeks really tore into Bessent- "Stop covering for the President!" he roared. "Don't be a flunky! Work for the American people! Work for the American people! Don't be a coverup for a mob!" This is the kind justified indignation that we should expect from all of our elected representatives. The Trump administration is the most nakedly corrupt in American history. These crooks are looting our public coffers, selling our interests out abroad, and lining their pockets as average Americans struggle to even afford groceries. When Democrats retake power we cannot just sweep these crimes under the rug. There must be investigations, prosecutions, and prison time. Please like and share!
