Trump gets nightmare news as his economic disapproval rating hits a record high of 59% as Americans struggle to even afford groceries due to his policies. This man is handing Democrats the midterms on a silver platter. We just need to show up and VOTE! According to an NPR/PBS News/Marist survey, only 36% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the economy. While that number is still far too high, we know by now that there is a third of this country that will always support their cult leader no matter how bad things get. Unfortunately for him, it's not nearly enough support to win elections. Worst yet for Republicans, 6 in 10 Independents believe that the White House should be focused primarily on lowering prices. Since Trump is far more focused on his $200 million ballroom and his ongoing Epstein coverup, it's unlikely that'll he'll avert course in time to salvages his party's electoral prospects. Much of the country's economic suffering is a direct result of Trump's harebrained - and likely illegal - tariffs. It's a self-inflicted wound stemming from the president's profound ignorance and his need to seize more power for himself whenever possible. 56% of Americans say that tariffs/fees on imports hurtsthe U.S. economy. Only 31% incorrectly believe that they help. As if the economic tailwinds weren't bad enough for Trump heading into November, the same poll also found that 65% of Americans believe that ICE has "gone too far" with its immigration enforcement operations. Since innocent people are now being murdered in the streets by masked federal agents, it's hard to disagree with that sentiment. Furthermore, 71% of Independents believe that ICE has gone too far. 68% of them think that ICE is making Americans "somewhat less or much less safe." While the battle is far from over, these numbers are incredibly encouraging. That said, we cannot allow them to lull us into complacency. We still have to show up, vote blue, and convince all of our friends and family to do the same. It seems increasingly likely that Trump will deploy ICE agents to polling places to suppress turnout. Our only option is to respond in such overwhelming numbers that the suppression proves irrelevant to the final outcome.
