Trump confirms he stopped retaliatory Iran strike

President Trump confirmed that his administration had readied a series of strikes against Iran in response for shooting down an unmanned drone in a Friday Twitter thread.

"We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights [sic] when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone."

President Obama made a desperate and terrible deal with Iran - Gave them 150 Billion Dollars plus I.8 Billion Dollars in CASH! Iran was in big trouble and he bailed them out. Gave them a free path to Nuclear Weapons, and SOON. Instead of saying thank you, Iran yelled Death to America.

I terminated deal, which was not even ratified by Congress, and imposed strong sanctions. They are a much weakened nation today than at the beginning of my Presidency, when they were causing major problems throughout the Middle East. Now they are Bust!

On Monday they shot down an unmanned drone flying in International Waters. We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone.

I am in no hurry, our Military is rebuilt, new, and ready to go, by far the best in the world. Sanctions are biting & more added last night. Iran can NEVER have Nuclear Weapons, not against the USA, and not against the WORLD!

McCabe started as a street agent in the FBI's New York field office, serving under director Louis Freeh. He became an expert in two kinds of investigations that are critical to American national security: Russian organized crime--which is inextricably linked to the Russian state--and terrorism. Under Director Robert Mueller, McCabe led the investigations of major attacks on American soil, including the Boston Marathon bombing, a plot to bomb the New York subways, and several narrowly averted bombings of aircraft. And under James Comey, McCabe was deeply involved in the controversial investigations of the Benghazi attack, the Clinton Foundation's activities, and Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server when she was secretary of state.

The Threat recounts in compelling detail the time between Donald Trump's November 2016 election and McCabe's firing, set against a page-turning narrative spanning two decades when the FBI's mission shifted to a new goal: preventing terrorist attacks on Americans. But as McCabe shows, right now the greatest threat to the United States comes from within, as President Trump and his administration ignore the law, attack democratic institutions, degrade human rights, and undermine the U.S. Constitution that protects every citizen.

I wanted to read this book. I don't know much about the inner workings of the FBI and I knew this would explain a lot. It tells McCabe's own personal story and tells us just how the FBI works.
The tall tales that trump tells about Mueller, Comey and McCabe are refuted easily by this book. Knowing about the people who work there and the way they do things you will find that the idea of three Republican career FBI men being involved in a plot against the man in the White House is ludicrous. You would be just as concerned as they were and just as alarmed.
McCabe tells his own story as well as many details of working at the FBI. It's fascinating stuff. I came away proud of Andrew McCabe for coming forward despite all the horrible, raging tweets he will get from the WH. McCabe is an American hero. What he did with this book was to tell his story and that of the Bureau. I hope people come to realize that it isn't McCabe who is lying.
If you aren't as scared as I am, you aren't paying attention. Thank you Andrew McCabe for an excellent book.

This week, President Trump kicked off his reelection bid in Orlando, Florida. Despite having 23 Democratic challengers and one Republican vying to unseat President Trump, his kickoff campaign rally on Tuesday night appeared to be more concerned with past grievances about the 2016 election and his former opponent Hillary Clinton during the official kickoff of his 2020 campaign in Orlando, Florida.

Claiming that the "system" was "rigged" against him, Mr. Trump accused federal investigators of giving Clinton and her aides a "free pass" in the probe into her use of a private email service to conduct official communications during her tenure as secretary of state.

Mr. Trump suggested Attorney General William Barr, who has been accused by Democrats of acting like the president's personal lawyer, could take another look at the matter. "We now have a great attorney general," the president told his ardent supporters. "Let's see what happens."
And we check in on the Southern border. The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a $4.6 billion emergency spending bill -- over half of which will go to housing and care for unaccompanied children. President Trump says ICE will begin raids next week. And Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sparked criticism for her tweet comparing migrant detention centers to concentration camps.

President Donald Trump approved military strikes in Iran, according to reporting by The New York Times. But then, the president pulled back. From The TImes: The operation was underway in its early stages when it was called off, a senior administration official said. Planes were in the air and ships were in position, but no missiles had been fired when word came to stand down, the official said.

The two countries disputed the circumstances leading up to an Iranian surface-to-air missile bringing down the U.S. Navy RQ-4A Global Hawk, an unmanned aircraft with a wingspan larger than a Boeing 737 jetliner and costing over $100 million.

Iran said the drone "violated" its territorial airspace, while the U.S. called the missile fire "an unprovoked attack" in international airspace over the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf and President Donald Trump tweeted that "Iran made a very big mistake!"
And earlier this week, about 50 million people lost electricity in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

NPR reports that Argentina's energy secretary, Gustavo Lopetegui, did not rule out the possibility of a cyber attack on the Argentine power grid, although he said it was unlikely.

"He added that the outage "shouldn't have happened," because "the Argentine system is pretty robust," reporter Daniella Cheslow wrote.
And China's president Xi Jinping and North Korea's Kim Jong Un met this week. The summit represents President Xi's first trip to North Korea since assuming the role."Unofficially, [Xi] is likely there to talk about -- or at least send a message to -- President Trump," according to The New York Times' Russell Goldman.

The terrorists flew two of the planes into two skyscrapers at the World Trade Center in New York City. The impact caused the buildings to catch fire and collapse. Another plane destroyed part of the Pentagon (the U.S. military headquarters) in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Officials believe that the terrorists on that plane intended to destroy either the White House or the U.S. Capitol. Passengers on the plane fought the terrorists and prevented them from reaching their goal. In all, nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks.
